One

One year already?! It doesn’t even seem possible.

Yesterday we went for your one year checkup and at 12 months you weigh 19 pounds 12.5 oz (9th percentile for weight) and you are 29 inches long (23rd percentile for height). You have recently turned into a little monkey and climbing seems to be your new, favorite activity. Last Friday, on your actual birthday, you apparently decided that since you were now one and oh so big, it would be a good idea to climb (or dive or fall) out of your crib. After your nap, I heard you screaming bloody murder and ran in your room to find you on the floor. Talk about heart attack. Since then, you’ve also learned how to climb on the kitchen table. Heart attack times two.

Although you are not walking quite yet, you are taking one or two steps here and there. You continue to be a great eater. You’ve made the switch to whole milk, and transitioned very easily. Your silly little personality is showing up more and more each day. We think this is such a fun age!

Your favorite words are “dada”, “giggle giggle”, and “wiggle wiggle”. No “mama” yet, but we’re working on it! You love to clap, wave bye bye, and try to imitate us talking. You are scared to death of dogs and cry every time one comes near. You especially hate when they bark. You will laugh at Amos through the window, but will have a major meltdown if he comes inside.

You upgraded to a big carseat last week and have loved facing forward! You also got lots and lots of cool, new toys for your birthday, and it has been fun to finally have some real boy toys around the house (lots of trucks, trains, and tractors!)

Although it took you a while to get there, you are now a great sleeper! Your mother really appreciates this! You sleep from about 7pm-7am and take two 1.5-2 hour naps a day.

Thomas, you have been the sweetest blessing to our family over the past year, and we thank God for you everyday. You bring so much joy, laughter, and fun to our lives! We love you so much.
