And the Happy Posts Continue...

Emma Kate is having another great day. Everyone who sees her comments on how great she looks. She is slowly waking up a little more. This afternoon, we were able to take most of the dressings off of her. We were also able to give her a little sponge bath. I think it made both of us feel much better. Before, she was one big sticky mess from all of the bandages, dressings, etc. We were able to get her dressed too, which was really exciting for me :) She's starting to look like my Emma Kate again. We just talked to Dr. Breitbart, and he is talking discharge for the weekend!! WHOO HOOO! Please pray for her continued progress. I don't want to get too excited, because there are lots of things that could happen between now and then. Tomorrow, we are going to have some skeletal x-rays done to address some of the questions we have about EK's "possible skeletal dysplasia". That term came up several times when I was pregnant and after she was born, but we were never given an official diagnosis. We first learned about this issue, when her arm and leg measurements measured small in utero. Anyone who knows Emma Kate knows that she is itty bitty, so maybe these x-rays will give us more information about that. In nutrition news, we have decided, after talking to a nutritionist, that EK needs to get back on formula. We will start her on that tonight sometime. The nutritionist thinks that she may not be getting everything that she needs from whole milk, and we agree. Also, we are going to have another sedated ECHO done on Friday at 1:00 to make sure that everything is as it should be after the surgery. We may also have a swallow study done to make sure she is not aspirating, and speak to the feeding specialists about ideas that we can try to help EK eat better. As always, thanks for checking in!
