Trey and I are back at the Devon Nicole house trying to shower and regroup for tonight. The grandmothers and aunts are holding down the fort while we're away. Emma Kate is still looking pretty good. She is still on the vent. For the most part, she looks peaceful. There are times however, when she gets very restless. It is really hard to watch, because it is obvious how uncomfortable she is. I can only imagination...The restlessness is probably due to a combination of things. For one, her age is a big factor. She is just so active, and sitting still is not her idea of fun. She also may not be responding as well to the medicines, because she has had them before. This IS her 5th surgery (she is SUCH A TROOPER!). She's sort of a pro at outsmarting the doctors by now. At about 6:30 they started her on a new round of medicines. With this medicine, she will get a constant dose for 10-12 hours. Hopefully, this will keep her still and at peace, and hopefully she will get a good nights rest. Please continue to pray. The nurses think that she will be a lot calmer when the vent comes out, and hopefully that will be sometime tomorrow morning.
I have some pictures that I will try to post soon. Trey's laptop is conveniently in the process of crashing, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to update again. Also, we appreciate all of the messages and texts that you are sending. We are not allowed to have cellphones in the CICU, so it is hard to respond. Just know that we are so thankful for each of you!
Still praying. Glad things are going pretty well. I'll be praying for peace for all of you. Thanks for the updates. It is nice to know just how to pray.
ReplyDeleteThank you Trey and Rachel for keeping us connected. We will pray for Emma Kate specifically to respond well to her meds for continued strength to be weaned from ventilator. We are praying that the Lord would carry all of you gently through this first 48 hours . These are those times of adjustment and healing . We are praying that the Lord would refresh you with sleep when ever that is possible. Be reminded of His watchful eyes and be encouraged by His word. with love and prayers, Lenny and Margaret Woods

We'll be praying for a night of rest for Emma Kate, mommy and daddy, for continued improvement and for a successful extubation tomorrow!
